Sleep Cycle App

My boss-friend, Taylor, suggested the Sleep Cycle App to me last night after I talked about how well I slept the night before.

I typically get a good night's rest most of the month but I can definitely see how a good scientific approach to the most perfect month of rest can be achieved!

The Sleep Cycle App wakes you when it registers that you are in your most light state of sleep.  Not all willy nilly (because you go through a cycle of light and deep sleep all night) but it gives itself a 30 min buffer zone to  your alarm time and wakes you gently with a smooth tune.

Somehow or another I changed my alarm to an hour earlier than I thought, but nevertheless, I truly felt like it was easier than normal to rise up to the light, slow, sound as it began to register in my mind what was going on.

I also tried snoozing.  You just press or bump the phone and it smart-snoozes for you.  Pretty cool.

What I look forward to most is not waking in the middle of the night and looking at my phone.. 1. Because you have to tuck it under your fitted sheet and 2. Because I don't want to interfere with the analysis that my phone is taking!  (That's an added bonus that it forces you to truly unplug.)

I may have had a little bit of performance anxiety on my first night so I do feel that I was lighter in my light sleep just excited to experience the alarm.  I also had to tend to my eye in the middle of the night in the bathroom (it seemed like I'd rubbed something into it).  I am confident that the sync will get better over time and expect to share about it again here on the blog.

Sleep Cycle is available for iPhone and Android phones and costs $.99 to download.
